Faith is one of the last holdouts of major risk in our culture. Our culture is trying so hard to avoid rish and please everybody through political correctness and relativism that everybody is mad at everyone else. If we were to take a risk and re-establish some biblical values in our culture, yes, there would be some upset people, but our culture would be stronger and . . . more moral. So when in comes to faith, it is risky. And stewardship is a huge faith issue which also makes it a huge risk issue.

Recognizing the SpiritIn reality, in Biblical reality, we are to be very careful as we approach the spiritual world. We are to understand that the spiritual world is as real as the world that we can see and hear and touch. And we are to understand that we can be influenced by spiritual forces. Whether it is directly by the spirits themselves or by the spirits influencing someone else.In fact, the Bible says we are in a spiritual battle. Paul writes in Eph 6:10-12Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. That is what John is talking about in our text today. We exist in a very spiritual world and we need to recognize the spirits around us.

This is Love<br><br>There are several different words in the Greek for love. The word for love that the NT uses most frequently is the word<br>Agape (or a derivative of it): this is used of Godly love. It speaks of God’s relationship to man. Then, more and more as the Bible begins to teach, it describes man’s response to God and to one another.<br><br>The Greek word agape seems to have been virtually a Christian invention -- a new word for a new thing (apart from about twenty occurrences in the Greek version of the Old Testament, it is almost non-existent before the New Testament). Agape draws its meaning directly from the revelation of God in Christ. It is not a form of natural affection, however, intense, but a supernatural fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22). It is a matter of will rather than feeling (for Christians must love even those they dislike -- Matt. 5:44-48). It is the basic element in Christ-likeness.<br>

<itunes:summary>This is LoveThere are several different words in the Greek for love. The word for love that the NT uses most frequently is the wordAgape (or a derivative of it): this is used of Godly love. It speaks of God’s relationship to man. Then, more and more as the Bible begins to teach, it describes man’s response to God and to one another. The Greek word agape seems to have been virtually a Christian invention -- a new word for a new thing (apart from about twenty occurrences in the Greek version of the Old Testament, it is almost non-existent before the New Testament). Agape draws its meaning directly from the revelation of God in Christ. It is not a form of natural affection, however, intense, but a supernatural fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22). It is a matter of will rather than feeling (for Christians must love even those they dislike -- Matt. 5:44-48). It is the basic element in Christ-likeness.</itunes:summary>
